The Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) and  Commonwealth Games Association of Trinidad and Tobago (CGATT) on the occasion of International Youth Day (IYD) is calling on the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic and Commonwealth Sport Movement to take urgent measures and actions to ensuring that sport on the twin Island Republic is a safe space for children, youth and young people.

The Theme for International Youth Day 2018 is Safe Spaces For Youth. International Youth Day was designated by the United Nations in 1999 with the adoption of Resolution 54/120 and is aimed at drawing attention to youth issues worldwide.

Sport has a unique power in promoting cultural awareness and harmony between people ofvdiffrent upbringing. On the occasion of International Youth Day 2018 the TTOC is encouraging everyone to think about how sport could positively address the societal challenges and turmoil engulfing Trinidad and Tobago.

 Sport could become a very important and powerful tool for enabling and preparing children, youth and young adults in becoming succesful leaders in the vanguard of the future development of Trinidad and Tobago .
