At times you have to take a step back and take a breather because somewhere inside of the intensity of the battle there are moments of clarity. Times when you move from a position of where nothing seems to make sense - to understanding that it makes sense after all.

Increasingly, the overwhelming sentiment taking root is as sport in T&T is facing it's darkest hour. The perception of the crisis is alarmingly strong and powerful.

Those who have fought with great commitment are beginning to consider their options as the reality of diminishing returns begin to reveal itself, but under the circumstance I would advice you to hold your position, stay the fort and dig in and fight.

But even the strongest of soldiers begin to waver in the face of turmoil and a perception that those on the front line don't have the support of those responsible for taking the ship to its destination. Again, I say, stand your ground because help is on its way.

It's obvious that there is need for greater teamwork within sport in T&T. But at this point in time it maybe a futile pursuit.

The agendas and motives aren't the same. One would think it ought to be but it isn't.

As we come to the end of the second month of the year it's going to take a lot of fight for each of us to dig out of the tunnel of despair.

The fight back must begin and it will require clarity as to what will success look like. It doesn't matter what side of the battle line you are on or what is your end game?

For some it will be painful to accept that we aren't all in the same boat fighting for the same cause, reason or end game.

But it's better to known rather than not know. Once we cease fooling each other and accept full responsibility for creating and helping prepare a brighter future for tomorrow.

The T&T Olympic Committee (TTOC) and the T&T Commonwealth Games Association (TTCGA) Gold Coast Commonwealth Games preparation is well advanced. At the same time Sport IndustryTT 2018 will be held on March 8. This will be followed by the March 9, athlete sponsorship and branding workshop and on March 10, the TTOC will be a partner in a walk to celebrate International Women's Day.

All of these activities including a workshop on March 4, are part of the Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees (CANOC) week.

Regardless of the tough and difficult times the work goes on.
