UPCOMING OLYMPIC GAMES

T&T OLYMPIC TEAM TTO PARTNERS

March 9 - The Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) has extended its partnership with Adidas in a deal that is expected to "transform sports marketing" in the nation.

As the National Olympic Committee's podium and team wear partner, Adidas will provide clothing for Trinidad and Tobago's athletes at the Rio 2016 Games, the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz and the 2015 Pan and Parapan American Games in Toronto.

Brian Lewis, President of the TTOC, welcomed the extension of the sponsorship deal - which has already covered the past two Olympic cycles, particularly as the nation is targeting more medals at future Games.

"The extension of the partnership in what is a challenging global environment is a huge boost to the TTOC's efforts to transform its strategic marketing and commercial approach," he told insidethegames.

"The key aspect of the agreement is the opportunity for the TTOC to develop and scale its licensing and merchandising programme.

"Add to that the objective of 10 or more Olympic medals the year 2024.

"We at the TTOC are delighted that Adidas will continue to be our podium and team wear partner.

"The Adidas brand has tremendous history and tradition in Olympic Sport."

Lewis added that the partnership will also allow the TTOC to invest more in its athlete development and preparation programmes.
