T&T Olympic sailor Andrew Lewis has been injured after a fall at his apartment in Brazil, where he is preparing for next year's Olympic Games.

A statement from Team Andrew Lewis on Monday afternoon says that he is in stable condition and is expected to make a speedy recovery. Following is the text of a statement issued to the media: "Olympic Laser Sailor Andrew Lewis is currently receiving medical treatment in Brazil, following an incident which took place on December 13th. Andrew sustained injuries from a fall at his apartment in Rio De Janeiro, where he has been training for a regatta at the 2015 Copa Brasil Championships. Following his qualification for the Rio 2016 Olympics earlier this year, Andrew was due to compete at Copa Brasil as part of his preparatory training. He is currently in the care of his father and his coach and is in close contact with the rest of his family here in Trinidad and Tobago. Earlier today, he was reported to be in stable condition and his family is hopeful for a quick recovery. We are currently awaiting official medical reports to confirm the extent of his injuries and the recovery process to resume training. Your prayers and continued positive support are welcomed during this time."
