UPCOMING OLYMPIC GAMES

T&T OLYMPIC TEAM TTO PARTNERS

REMAINING two quarter- final round matches in both the men and women’s division of the Trinidad and Tobago Volleyball Federation’s Flow Premier League serves off at Jean Pierre Complex, Mucurapo, today from 2 pm.

In the opening match Toco Youths will be going up against Southern United in men’s action for a place in Saturday’s semi-final.

Toco would be a bit depleted as its top players Simon Blake, Colin Bernard and Daneil Williams are away on national duty in Beach Volleyball.

Southern United though, have been boosted by the country’s top volleyball player, Marc Anthony Honore, and also features experienced national players Russell Pena, Kevin Nimrod and Joshua Mohammed.

Winners of this encounter will play undefeated Big SEPOS on Saturday, who previously qualified last weekend.

Big SEPOS are now led by Brandon Legall, ably supported by veteran Nolan Tash, returning professional Akim Bushe, Barbados import Fabien Cox and the in-form 16-year old setter, Kamron Donald.

From 4 pm, the first of the two remaining women’s quarter- finals get underway with University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT ) facing off against Southern United.

UTT boast a youthful and talented outfit with stand-out Reajanne Wallace leading the charge.

Southern United on the other hand, will field a number of former UTT stand-outs including defensive specialist Rheeza Grant, outside hitter Delana Mitchell and opposite Abby Blackman.

The winners of this meeting will play undefeated Technocrats in Saturday’s ‘semi’.

Technocrats however, will be no walkover since they are being guided by star player Kelly Anne Billingy — current tournament leader in scoring, spiking and serving.

Two hours later, the last women’s quarter-final jumps off as West Side Stars and Big SEPOS do battle.

West Side Stars is having a great season driven by young sensation Delicia Pierre and the hard working national junior Latifha Joseph.

Meanwhile, Big SEPOS has been a force with which to reckon throughout the tournament thus far and cannot be underestimated with talents such as Teneil Bruno in the mix.

The winners of this clash will face the star studded Glamorgan who features, former US Olympian Kim Willoughby, Puerto Rican Michelle Nogueras, US-based Makala York and Rechey Lindsay plus senior national player, Jalicia Ross.

And in the final match (last men quarter-final) of the action- packed night, Technocrats lock horns with Titans at 8 pm.

Dubbed a battle of TT ’s future talent, Technocrats boasts national Junior captain Marlon Waldo Phillips, easily one of the top three players in the league.

Titans, with a very young team, is also being led by the unstoppable Enrique Henry.

The winners of Technocrats vs Titans will have their hands full in Saturday’s semi-final, as they go up against a well assembled Glamorgan team which comprises of Canadians Daniel Groenveild and Andre Brown, resident and Germany born Markus Schulze, and national players Saleem Ali, Ryan Stewart and Kwesi Daniel.

Tomorrow, the fifth place playoff in each division serves off at the same location from 6 pm and 8 pm while the semi-final round begins on Saturday from 2 pm — 8 pm.

Both title matches spike off on Sunday from 4 pm with the third place playoff scheduled to commence six hours prior.
